Uranian astrology is an innovative system of astrology developed at the start of the 20th century by Friedrich Sieggrün (1877-1951) and Alfred Witte (1878-1943), two pioneers of the contemporary astrological revival. The system is oftentimes referred to as the Hamburg School, a reference to Witte’s main teaching centre in Germany.
The โหราศาสตร์ยูเรเนียน was distinguished from traditional astrology at a number of points. First, traditional astrology bases many of its interpretations of the chart on the angles formed between planets in the charts. Important relationships or aspects are formed when planets are apart as 0° (conjunction), 30° (semise.xtile), 45° (semisquare), 60° (se.xtile), 90°(square), 120° (trine), and 180° (opposition). There are also a set of lesser aspects. Some aspects have traditionally been` viewed as beneficent as well as others as more malevolent. These latter, now termed the tough aspects, are the square, semisquare, and opposition. The Uranian system emphasized the role of hard aspects.
Second, the Uranian system introduced the idea of midpoints to astrological interpretation. Because the name implies, a midpoint is really a spot halfway between any two planets pictured on the horoscope. The midpoint is the place where the combined energies of the two planets manifest. Both planets and their midpoint form a planetary picture. The calculation of said midpoints requires an additional degree of mathematical skill from the astrologer creating the chart, a well known fact that limited the spread of the Uranian approach.
Third, by far the most questionable aspect of the Uranian system was the introduction of hypothetical planets towards the chart. Ahead of the introduction of space travel and the development of various means of verifying the presence of otherwise unknown planets, the existence of different as yet undiscovered planets was proposed. Such speculation was encouraged by the discovery of Uranus and Neptune and heralded the invention of Pluto(1930) and Chiron (1977), a comet originally thought to be a planet.
Uranian astrology was unique in suggesting the presence of a minimum of eight hypothetical planets that were because of the names Cupido, Hades, Zeus, Kronos, Apollon, Admetos, Vulcanos, and Poseidon. All these planets was assigned its particular role inside the chart.
Uranian astrology enjoyed its greatest success in German-speaking countries through the first one half of the 20th century. In addition, it delivered cosmobiology, an astrological system started by Reinhold Ebertin, one of Witte’s students. It has had little success outside of German-speaking countries, though Witte’s most significant book, Rules for Planetary Pictures, was published within an English edition in 1939. Also, modern advances in astronomy made incorporating hypothetical planets for the horoscope an increasingly dubious endeavor.
The next three personal points are viewed inner personal points. First is direct sunlight, representing the will and ego from the individual. Direct Sunlight also rules the day. The Moon is the second inner personal point, representing the emotions of the individual. The Moon also rules the hour. The last in the inner personal points will be the MC. One popular misconception about Uranian astrologers is they do not use houses. In fact, the seasoned Uranian astrologer uses six house systems for each of the personal points. The Meridian house system is probably the most important of the six since it represents the native’s viewpoint. This house system is divided along the equator rather than the ecliptic and, therefore, the houses are essentially equal in proportions. The first house from the Meridian system is also known as the equatorial ascendant and describes the way the person sees himself. The idea known as the ascendant could possibly fall inside the twelfth house of the โหราศาสตร์.
